Balanced Macros, Steady Progress: Fitness & Nutrition Week Recap

Zombie Diet Struggles:

This week, even a fitness zombie like me stumbled through the fog of hunger and cravings. My caloric intake was all over the place, much like a horde of zombies searching for brains. Some days I barely managed to scrounge up 1,200 calories – you’d think I was on a brain diet! My best day? 9/10/24, when I feasted on a whopping 2,025 calories. Braaains! No, wait… calories. Same difference.

On 9/7/24, 9/9/24, and 9/13/24, it was like someone had locked up the brain buffet. My intake hit rock bottom, hovering between 1,200 and 1,300 calories. Staying consistent with meals was a challenge as big as a horde trying to break through a barricade. My biggest problem? Too much fat, not enough protein! Even a fitness zombie needs muscles, and that means more protein. Next week, I’ll be hunting down more protein-packed meals to keep this undead physique in top shape.

I noticed my energy levels were up, despite the low-calorie intake. However, my appetite was all over the place. One day I’m ravenous, the next I’m shambling through with barely any appetite. Protein is key to keeping these zombie gains, so I’ll need to chow down on protein-rich brains…I mean, foods…to stay fueled and keep this body from decaying!

Zombie Workouts:

The grind was real this week! I racked up 3,586 calories burned across various workouts, and let me tell you, the elliptical felt like I was chasing after a fleeing survivor—nonstop cardio! My most intense day was 9/13/24 when I hit two elliptical sessions back-to-back. That burn was fierce, but nothing a zombie can’t handle!

Elliptical training? Done. Strength training? Smashed it! I focused on compound movements that worked my zombie muscles hard during those 13- to 24-minute sessions. It’s about keeping those limbs strong, ya know? Cardio’s cool, but a fitness zombie’s got to build strength to tear down obstacles (and hit goals, of course). Stretching sessions were crucial, too, keeping these joints from stiffening up worse than a corpse.

Next week, I’ll mix it up even more. Gonna throw in some new moves to keep things fresh, but the focus stays on building muscle. More gains, less decay! Pairing that with extra protein? I’ll be unstoppable, even in a zombie apocalypse.

Zombie Body Stats:

Zombie transformation in progress! I started the week at 222.8 lbs and dropped to 221.2 lbs by week’s end. I thought I had this in the bag when I weighed in midweek at 220.4 lbs on Tuesday (yup, I did a sneaky weigh-in!). Was hoping to at least keep it there by Friday’s official weigh-in, but nah, it didn’t hold. Sure, I stayed within my goals, but man, it’s hard not to feel a little braindead about the final number.

Body fat also took a hit, dropping from 27.90% to 27.60%, while skeletal muscle crept up from 46.50% to 46.70%. Gotta keep those zombie muscles strong! Subcutaneous fat went down from 24.30% to 24.10%, which means I’m losing fat where it counts – gotta keep this torso lean for maximum strength in my zombie shuffle! Also dropped an inch of rotting flesh from the hips.

My metabolic age dipped from 65 to 64. Seems even zombies can get younger with the right plan. Watch out, living folks, this fitness zombie is on the rise!

Calories, Yum!

Calories were as unpredictable as a horde’s path. Some days, it felt like I was in a food desert, barely scraping together 1,300 calories (yup, looking at you, 9/7, 9/9, and 9/13!). But when the brain feast happened on 9/10/24, I hit my highest at 2,025. Next week, I need to be less erratic and keep that fuel steady so I can keep burning through workouts like an unstoppable force.

Even with those ups and downs, my workouts kept me in a caloric deficit, which led to that nice little weight drop. Still, I gotta work on evening things out next week—more protein, less rollercoaster!

Zombie Heartbeats:

Heart’s still ticking! My resting heart rate ranged from 63 bpm to 73 bpm, which is pretty solid for an undead dude like me. During workouts, the heart revved up to 110 bpm, peaking at 150 bpm on 9/10/24. It was like I was sprinting after a survivor—fast and intense!

Heart rate variability (HRV) was between 21 ms and 31 ms, showing that even a fitness zombie needs recovery time. These stats show that my heart’s still strong, ready for more cardio madness next week.

Zombie Glucose Survival:

Glucose levels were up and down like a zombie horde through the streets. Early morning lows hit hard on 9/7/24 and 9/11/24—guess I was too busy dreaming of brains to balance my blood sugar! On 9/7, my average glucose was 99.5, and by 9/13, it rose to 106.7. My highest reading for the period was 175, with a low of 56. On average, my glucose sat at 103. Had five drops below 70, but the worst was an hour and 45 minutes during the dead of night. Guess my insulin sensitivity is trying to sneak up on me!

That spike on 9/10/24? It lines up with my highest calorie day—packed with carbs to keep this undead body going. Next week, I’ll keep an eye on how my macronutrient choices affect my glucose. Protein, especially, might help smooth out the spikes and dips, keeping me on an even keel during and after workouts.

Final Zombie Thoughts:

Overall, this week was a win for the fitness zombie in me. Progress was made—slow, steady, and shambling forward. I’m still seeing improvements in my body composition, and my cardio is keeping my zombie heart strong. My focus now is on nailing that protein-to-fat ratio to build muscle and shred fat. Time to tweak the meal plans, mix things up in the workouts, and keep on moving forward.

Next week, I’m aiming for consistent meals, more protein, and smashing some new goals in the gym. Gotta stay sharp, stay lean, and keep tracking those glucose levels as I inch closer to peak fitness zombie status!
